John's Automotive has the friendliest staff and what I know to be the most honest mechanics. John's staff is knowledgeable, fair, and has great customer service experience. I have been taking my vehicles to John's Automotive Care for six years now. Not only do I have my cars services here but so does my mom, brother and sister and some friends as well. Don't shop around - GO TO JOHN'S!

I love this place - they have definitely won my ongoing business. Getting ready to leave for a long holiday weekend my car decided to have a major fluid leak. It turns out John was at the shop even though it was closed and was nice enough to open the lot and wait for me to have my car towed to the shop. He even asked if it was an emergency to get the car fixed before Monday or if it could wait. Brian was my service advisor and I was very impressed with his explaination of my options. Repair costs were much lower than I expected... and I was always treated like a friend or family member - not just a customer.

John's Automotive did a great job on my car! Jason Scmitz was my mechanic who helped me replace my clutch. He did a great job, and finished everything in a timely manner so I didn't have to go days on end without a car! Thanks guys!

Ok, I'm going to say it. I love my mechanic. Or to be more correct, the entire staff of my mechanic's shop. Find this slightly inappropriate? Well, I don't...not after what this shop has done for me! Finding Brian and his team when I first moved to San Diego a year ago was probably the best thing I did. More times than I can count he has come to my rescue for little things like having one of his techs (shout out to Jon Jr here) fix my center counsel that my friend ripped off unknowingly (he even found the screws that flew all over the car and just put it back together for me!!!) to fixing my more major problems like when my axle boot decided to explode and spray grease all over my catalytic converter. And the best part is that he always helps with an understanding that this chick works at a non-profit and she aint got no money! I probably drive Brian nuts with my panic and my constant phone calls of 'why is it doing this?" or "Um, something else is wrong with my car now..(sigh)." But you'd never know it because every time he patiently sits on the phone with me to figure out what I'm freaking out about and always gives me an honest answer as to whether I need to bring it in or whether it's something I can deal with until later. What it comes down to is that there is no better place in SD to take your car. Period.

They replaced a belt and when it went bad during warranty while I was in another state they covered all repair cost.. Nothing out of my pocket.. You can't ask for any better service than that!!!

These guys were helpful and really nice, very personable. They worked around my schedule and made me feel at home. They diagnosed my car battery troubles and were just overall awesome. I'd highly recommend them to anybody with car troubles. I felt like a valued customer and they are definitely going to be the first place I call for any car troubles from now on.

John's Automotive has been servicing our business and personal vehicles for the last six years. The location is very convenient to our home, biz, and Kaiser Vandever if we're stuck there for something. John himself is very personable and takes a lot of pride in doing a great job. The office staff and technicians are helpful and excellent at keeping you updated on your vehicle's progress. Their prices are very fair, they can get you in quickly if it's a pressing issue, and they're able to provide dealership-quality service on quirky car issues at a much lower cost. They look at the things that you would see as a problem as more of a challenge and they will not rest until they get it fixed. Go to John's!

This establishment is the quintessential "rip off"!!! I drove a friend of mine to John's to pick up her car. She took it in at 8:30 AM to have her brakes checked and a diagnostic test done. It was after 3:00 PM when we arrived and the manager said the car was ready to go. No problems with the brakes, topped off the fluids and did the diagnostic and the fee would be $100.00. Having looked under the hood the day before, I asked, "Was the fluid in the Master Cylinder low?" The manager answered, "no". Then I asked if they had reattached the air hose since I had found it detached and could only get it partly attached the day before. It was at this time that the manager got out of his chair and walked into the shop. A few minutes later he asked me to come into the shop to look under the hood of my friend's car. In amazement, I saw a radiator with no visible coolant and a beige lumpy substance coating the inside...in fact it looked as though someone had vomited in the radiator. It was apparent that a gasket had failed. There is no way on earth that this car was looked at and the fluids topped off, let alone a diagnostic test run. Yet, he was ready to take $100.00 from my friend and let her drive off thinking everything was perfect. Of course, they gave her a quote to repair her car which included a WATER PUMP! This man had no shame!!! Total quote for repairs: over $1500.00!!! I told her she didn't need a water pump and he had coolant on the quote TWICE and wanted to replace every hose on the car. After my deductions, she got out of there with $1000.00. I advised her to go elsewhere. By the way, my friend is a female senior citizen and so am I.

the trunk on my civic wasn't closing right so i called john's after a great review from a friend. john looked at my trunk after i was there for less than 5 minutes, noticed that there were some loose bolts on the latch and after he tightened them, the trunk worked perfectly. thanks guys!

Pushed my car in when is broke down a block from the shop. They saw me comming, Paid them $100 to look at the car and they quoted $600 to replace the distributor. I paid them for the review and then pushed the car across the street to replace the distributor myself in 30 minutes. It cost me $180 for the part and I don't see how they can charge anyone $300+ dollars for a half hour of work.. I checked down the street and another repair shop quoted $75 for the labor?? I don't recommend them to anyone..
