I made an appointment for Friday morning to have my rear shocks replaced and I came here hoping I would save a few dollars from what the dealership was going to charge me to have it done, but man do I wish I would have just taking my car to the dealership. The estimate for both my rear shocks to be replaced with an alignment was $540, so a bit cheaper than the dealership so I agreed to have it done here. First thing, the staff is friendly and accommodating more so that any other place I have been but when it comes to fixing my car they dropped the ball. Once I got the call about my car mid afternoon that my shock bolt was seized in the knuckle in one of my shocks thats when things went downhill. They told me because it was seized that it would cost an additional $750 in labor just to have it replaced (that's more than the dealership estimate to have both replaced), which of course is ridiculous. So in total my bill would have been $1300 to have rear shocks replaced. It seems this mechanic or shop just didn't have the right tools to fix my car and wanted to up-charge me to cover the cost to get the tool they needed to un-seize the bolt. I of course declined the service because I'm not paying an additional $750 for labor. I was then told that my vehicle may would not drive the same if I did not have both of them replaced. Well of course its not going to drive the same, you guys only replaced the left rear shock versus both because you wanted to charge an extreme amount for labor just to have it replaced. So in short I paid $402 to have one shock replaced with an alignment but now I have to go back to the dealership to have my car fixed and another alignment done because Johns automotive wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount for labor after the fact. I would definitely not go back because I have to spend another day getting my car fixed elsewhere and will end up spending more than the original estimate from the dealership because of this.

Johns auto was amazing! They were very helpful and knew exactly what was wrong with my truck and kept it honest, they never once tried to force me into a repair I didn’t need or did need it was all up to me and I feel like that is very important for a mechanic

The complete diagnostic was a big help and valuable in determining what HAD to be done, what SHOULD, be done and what would need FUTURE attention. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Maybe that's why I have been coming back for a decade and a half.

The staff at John's is so helpful and professional and I feel like I can rely on John and his employees to be honest with me about what work my car does and doesn't need. My car recently needed its 60k mile service and the dealership wanted nearly $2000 to do all the things, whether they needed doing or not. At John's, I paid less than $1000 for an oil change and new spark plugs, nothing else needed to be done, based on their inspection, so nothing else was done. That's honesty!

We winter in San Diego from the Midwest. John’s Automotive Care has been very good to us as they have repaired our old tow vehicle several times. This year it was to electric cooling fan that sent me in for help. The repair was made quickly and they also performed two warranty repairs from 2018. They have my appreciation and my loyalty for the excellent service they provide.

I don't know why this place doesn't have five stars. These guys are awesome!! They charged us a quarter of what the dealer would've charged for some work. The customer service was outstanding too. They were great with trying to get the service done super fast knowing my toddler was not able to last long. My husband Bill had looked up reviews and did a lot of research before taking our GMC Acadia in. It's always so hard trusting your car and hard earned money to mechanics because you're basically hoping they don't gouge you for everything you've got. These guys are very honest, great to work with, and we will be long time customers and now recommend this place to everyone. Building lasting customers is a wise business move! Not trying to get a one-time, rip-off over on a customer that will never come back. Awesome job, thank you for your hard work!
