Great service and a very convenient location. Found their facility on the AAA website. Called after 3pm, and they were still able to make a same day appointment for a smog inspection. The price was very reasonably, and I got an additional discount for being a AAA member. Nice location within walking distance to several restaurants, stores and points of interest (Mission San Diego); so I had a lot to do while they performed the smog check, which was completed in a very timely fashion. Very pleased with the service received, the staff was terrific, and the place was very tidy. After I settled the bill, I was offered a cold beverage (non-alcoholic of course), and they had additional snacks available, which were all packaged in plastic bags, taking into account for the virus concerns. I will definitely consider returning there for future vehicle maintenance needs.

I started bringing my cars into John's Automotive 3 years ago when my long time shop did some very poor work on my 1972 Firebrid and 1985 Volvo. John's automotive really impressed me from the start by getting my 1972 firebird to run like a top after years of problems following an engine overhaul at my old shop. They take care to find out what's important in each car I own. For instance, I have a 2001 Montana van that I would like to keep using but it is a secondary and very old car that we don't want to spend a lot of money on. They advise what repairs are needed for safety and what repairs are not. They email a complete report with all items they find on their inspection and group them into three categories....1-what items are in good working order, 2-what items are of concern but not safety related and 3-items that are of immediate concern for safety. When I have an issue of concern, Brian gets back to me in a timely manner and carefully explains the issue. Great shop!!

Everyone at John's Automotive is professional, courteous and kind. Someone always greets you when you arrive in the office and they are respectful of your time. They are very reasonably priced and have never tried to up-sell me or recommend having work done that's not necessary.
